Your data, in plain words
Creative Code Art is free and has no ads. We collect only what the site needs to work, we never sell it, and we don't use tracking or advertising cookies. You can download or delete your data from your account page at any time.
Who runs this site
Creative Code Art is a non-commercial community for artists who work with code. For anything about your data, write to hello@creativecodeart.com.
What we collect and why
- Your email address, to send sign-in links and to know which account is yours.
- Passkeys: if you add one, we store its public key only. Your fingerprint, face or PIN never leaves your device.
- Your artist profile: the name, photo, bio, city, country, tools, languages, styles and links you choose to add. Photos are resized in your browser first, which removes hidden details such as location. It is public unless you turn off the privacy switches on the profile form.
- Your works: their code, sliders, description and a still image. Published works are public.
- Who you follow, so you can follow artists.
- The waitlist: your email, role and tools, so we can tell you when features open.
- Reports you send about a profile, so moderators can look into them.
- Admin history: actions taken by team members (for example suspending a profile) are kept in a log that can't be edited, so the team stays accountable.
We rely on your request (signing up, adding a profile) and on our legitimate interest in keeping the community safe (rate limits, reports, admin history).
Cookies
We use only cookies the site needs:
cca_sessionkeeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It can't be read by page scripts.cca_signed_inholds no data except “signed in”, so the header can show “My account”.- A short-lived cookie (5 minutes) holds the one-time challenge while you use a passkey.
No analytics, advertising or third-party cookies.
Where your data is kept
The site and its database run on servers in Germany through our hosting provider. Sign-in emails are sent through our hosting provider's mail service. Network addresses are used briefly to block abuse (rate limits) and may appear in the hosting provider's server logs.
How long we keep it
- Your account and profile: until you delete them.
- Sign-in links: 15 minutes, or until used.
- Reports: until handled, then as long as needed to deal with repeat problems.
- Admin history: kept, because it can't be changed or deleted.
Your choices and rights
- See and download your data: “Download my data” on your account page.
- Correct it: edit your profile at any time.
- Delete it: “Delete my account” removes your account, profile, passkeys, follows and waitlist entry.
- Hide yourself: profile switches keep you out of search, the map, or search engines.
- Ask or complain: write to hello@creativecodeart.com. If you live in the EU or UK you can also contact your data protection authority.

The site is for people aged 16 and over.
